Meridian Surveys is pleased to be able to provide a free, real-time display of the Malaysian Achievement Spirit Toward World Record as Shamsurrijal A Jamil attempts to drive his Proton Satria GTI around the world solo. The service is completely automated. The position updates are sent at pre-programmed intervals from the vehicle's Inmarsat C communications satellites and Inmarsat D+ terminal to a Land Earth Station (LES). The LES automatically forwards the update to Meridian's control centre in Kuala Lumpur where the position is plotted by the computer on a computer map and then uploaded to the web site every 30 minutes. All software modules required to perform this task were written in-house here in Malaysia.
